The following are some ideas on how to introduce the subject.Just take them as suggestions .It would be great if you could add others:

*You can work with the definition of science:You could present it in scrambled sentences for the kids to work out or hide around the classroom cards with parts of the definition,kids could look for it ( like a treasure hunt) and put it in order. You could also play the parcel game and unwrap the definition gradually. In the lower forms you could make a graphic definition of what the study of science contains ( for example: pictures of animals, plants etc).
*Do take kids outside, ask them to observe and keep record of the observation:
For example list and illustrate living and non living things.
